Our focus is providing and marketing quality year round camp and retreat facilities and programs that offer and promote Christian faith for people of diverse backgrounds and ages. |

Ministry Jubilee is a way for the churches of The Detroit
Annual Conference to choose which programs they would like to support through
their designated giving. Every year a booklet is published and distributed to
the churches. In 2010, Outdoor and Retreat Ministries has 19 programs in
Ministry Jubilee.

1406 Ministry Jubilee Projects - Board of Outdoor and Retreat Ministries
The Board of Outdoor and Retreat Ministries provides facilities and
enables life-changing programs of Christian discipleship, evangelism, education,
healing, justice and hospitality. Diverse people experience God's love in a
Christian environment. Gifts to the Board of Outdoor and Retreat Ministries will
be used in the area of greatest need to enhance the camp and retreat ministries
of the Conference. |

1104 International Camp Staff Support
Christian young adults from Europe, Africa, and Australia come to be part of the
Conference camp staffs to enrich our camp
programs by sharing their unique perspectives on faith and culture. They bring
to us the understanding that our similarities far outweigh our differences.
Campers receive much from their relationships, including inspiration, global
awareness, commitment to peace and growth in hospitality. Target Amount: $3,000. |

1108 Hispanic Camp
In order for everyone to experience God’s presence and love at camp, to provide
a special program for Hispanic/Latino families, we partner with and for Hispanic
UMC's. Our gifts to this ministry extend hospitality beyond ourselves, yet the
recipients are part of our connectional church. This camp is offered in
cooperation with the Committee on Hispanic Ministries. Increased participation
has created a greater need for gifts to support this ministry. Target Amount: $4,500.

Scholarships – All BORM Camps
Detroit Conference camps offer life-changing programs of Christian discipleship
and hospitality for individuals of all ages and from all walks of life.
Significant faith development as well as new friendships, skills, and
self-confidence are all nurtured in the camp setting. Camping is an extension of
the local church’s Christian education ministry. Scholarships will assure that
every child can attend camp, regardless of financial limitations. In recent
years we have had increased request for camp scholarship assistance and we urge
consideration of this ministry. Target Amount:

- Bay Shore Camp
Scholarship funds allow children
who would not be able to attend camp to do so. There, they experience the
love of God in an environment of fun and safety.

MJ 1190 Bibles
for Campers
Bible study is one of the primary practices
that help build lifestyles of Christian discipleship, and is an important
part of the camp and retreat experiences. The American Bible Society is now
offering the opportunity to provide special camp and retreat edition of the
Bible for our campers. The cost of a Bible is approximately $4. Your gift

MJ 1191 Camp Scholarships - Lake Louise
Lake Louise Christian Community near Boyne Falls, is a ministry of Michigan
United Methodists with a mission of "creating an environment that nurtures
Christian growth and Christ-line community" on 2,400 acres surrounding a
pristine lake. Our United Methodist camps sponsors elementary, middle, high
school youth and adult camps in the summer, and hosts retreats throughout
the year. Target Amount: $5,000. |
MJ 1200 Camp
Development
Your financial
support helps make capital improvements at our Outdoor and Retreat ministry
sites, providing facilities for summer camping and for churches and their
members to use throughout the year. Many people respond to God’s love at camps
and retreats, returning home as more committed disciples. Camp development
allows our ministry to go forward. Donations will be used where most needed at
Myers Lake, Camp Kinawind, Judson Collins Center, and Lake Huron Retreat

MJ 1201 Camp Michigamme Development
Camp Michigamme is 86 acres along Lake Michigamme in the beautiful Upper Peninsula,
with a vision of becoming a year round spiritual life center for the Marquette
District. Michigamme currently serves as many as 500 campers per summer, with
goals of expanding to a year round program for adults, youth and children.
Funds will be used for camp development, especially toward the
construction of a multipurpose retreat center and indoor programming

Detroit
Conference Outdoor and Retreat Ministries offer life-changing programs of
Christian discipleship and hospitality for people of all ages and from all walks
of life. Significant faith development as well as new friendships, skills and
self-confidence are all nurtured in the camp setting. Over 700 volunteer and paid staff members
are deployed to provide this programming each year. It is critical that they are prepared to offer safe and
effective leadership to our campers. Gifts to this fund will help underwrite the
cost of dean and counselor training, including resource leaders, staff
materials, first aid training, and other expenses. Target Amount: $2,500 |

The Detroit Conference Outdoor &
Retreat Ministries offer life-changing programs of Christian discipleship
and hospitality for people of all ages and from all walks of life. A staff
person helps to develop and provide leadership for camp programs, as well as
to promote camping in the Conference. Gifts in this category help underwrite
the salary of the Program and Marketing Assistant. Target Amount:

Detroit Conference Outdoor and Retreat Ministries offers life-changing programs

scholarships, volunteer and paid staff training and support, Christian education
curriculum materials, and special programs. Gifts received from Marquette

Collins Program Director Salary Support
Judson Collins Center provides
year-round camp and retreat opportunities. Although their particular focus
is on children and youth, the camp is committed to the process of Christian
discipleship for people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds, with a
particular focus on children and youth. The Program Director provides
leadership, structure, and hospitality to all programs and events, and
supports the counselors and program leaders. The Program Director also
provides resources for program development, marketing, camper recruitment,
and staff development. Target Amount: $5,000. |

MJ 1260 Myers Lake
Intern Support
Myers Lake United Methodist Campground offers family, tent and RV camping with a
Christian focus. The summer intern is responsible for Sunday worship experiences,
Christian education programs, interacts with all campers and encourages churches
to plan family events at the campground. The summer intern continues to be
essential to the outreach of the Myers Lake ministry. Target Amount: $4,000. |

Endowment
Detroit Conference Outdoor and Retreat Ministries offers life-changing programs
of Christian discipleship and hospitality for persons of all ages and from all
walks of life.
Gifts for camp endowment will be invested, with the income used to underwrite camp
program and facility needs. This endowment will ensure the long-term vitality
and viability of the camp and retreat ministries of our Conference.

Ministries
This fund provides assistance for
“God’s Treasures Camp” (adults with special needs), “Lakeshore Interlude”
(senior citizens), Adult Choir Retreat and Women’s Fall Retreat. It helps
with curriculum and other necessary program materials. Target
Amount: $3,000. |

MJ 1353 Camps for the
Mentally and Physically Challenged
Each summer the Board of Outdoor and Retreat Ministries offers several weeks of
camping for these special populations. These opportunities for spiritual
renewal, friendship, recreation, and family respite are, in many cases, the only
"outside" opportunities for these campers. Extra costs for providing these
programs include (but are not limited to) higher staff ratios, special medical
supplies, outside resource people, and accessible facilities. Your gift will
help underwrite the expense of this very special ministry and keep the cost to
the campers affordable. Target Amount: $17,000. |

MJ 1366 Camp New Day
Camp New Day is a joint program of the Detroit and West Michigan Conferences for
children ages 9 to 15, who have an incarcerated parent. In a spirit-filled fun
setting, campers will share in daily worship and Bible study, as well as
participate in traditional, fun camp activities. Campers in difficult
circumstances experience a caring, supportive community in which God's love is
shared. Target Amount: $6,000. |
MJ 1355 Family Camp Ministries
The Board of Outdoor and Retreat Ministries is continually expanding it’s
family camping ministry, so that families will have new programs and events to
attend at Myers Lake and Judson Collins Center. The safe, positive, and
innovative programs are offered during the summer and on holiday weekends. Your
gifts help provide much needed resources for developing and promoting these
family ministry events. Target
