To most of you, my e-mail address is a familiar one. But what you probably don’t know is that in addition to marketing efforts, I am also a Red Cross Instructor so that I train staff at Camp Kinawind, Judson Collins Center and Lake Huron in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding.

Since Camp Kinawind and Judson Collins Center employ summer staff, they train their employees for two weeks before campers arrive. This training includes child development, Bible curriculum, policies, the DAC children, youth and vulnerable persons training, outdoor skills (fire building, cooking over a fire, etc), CPR and First Aid, and more. In addition, volunteers who work at camp are required to have at least 24 hours of training. All paid and volunteer staff must have a background check done every year.

Detroit Conference Outdoor and Retreat Ministries offer life-changing programs of Christian discipleship and hospitality for people of all ages and from all walks of life. Significant faith development as well as new friendships, skills and self-confidence are all nurtured in the camp setting. Over 700 volunteer and paid staff members are deployed to provide this programming each year. It is critical that they are prepared to offer safe and effective leadership to our campers. Gifts to this fund will help underwrite the cost of dean and counselor training, including resource leaders, staff materials, first aid training, and other expenses.
