Adults and the Retreat
Experience
At Lake Huron Retreat
Center, there are hundreds of adults each year experiencing the joyful wonder of
retreating. The staff at the Center host a variety of groups annually – women
expressing their talents through quilting, scrap booking or embroidery. Men
come to spend time in worship and study and families visit to enjoy time
together.
Ministry Jubilee funds
help support some specific programs at Lake Huron Retreat
Center.
God’s Treasures Camp
ministers to 60 special needs campers, in two summer sessions. This camp
features everything a typical camp week would contain – crafts, recreation,
Bible stories, music, swim time, even a Talent Show. Some of our camps have
attended this program for nearly 20 years. It is the highlight of their entire
year! A dedicated group of volunteers brings an equal level of commitment to
the program.
Teddy Bear Camp
is a program designed for children entering
Kindergarten or First Grade, along with an adult. Perhaps this adult is a
parent, grandparent or aunt/uncle. Precious time is spent between adult and
child in this 24-hour camp experience. Again, the program contains all the
elements of a camp week.
Lakeshore Interlude
is another long-standing tradition at Lake Huron Retreat
Center. Men and women, ages 55 and older, have gathered at the lakeshore for
years for Bible Study, lectures and discussions, worship and fellowship.
Ministry Jubilee funds
assist in providing craft materials, rhythm instruments, curriculum, lifeguards,
first aid supplies and much more. Because of the large number of volunteer
staff needed for God’s Treasures, Ministry Jubilee funds help offset the cost of
staff room and board.
On behalf of the staff at
Lake Huron Retreat
Center and all those who participate in our summer programs, I say THANK YOU for
your support of Ministry Jubilee. Together, we are making a difference in the
lives of many! Thank you!
