International
Camp Staff Support
In a world of global
connections, it is essential that we strive to increase our understanding of
cultures different than our own. It is one way of working for world peace and it
is what Jesus would have us do. Our international staff members help us to
accomplish this larger goal. They are committed individuals who gain very little
financially from the experience. They come because they want to see a small part
of the USA and because they want to share their love of the Lord. They have a huge
impact on the lives of the campers they meet.
Judson
Collins Center and Camp Kinawind have been fortunate to
have a number of international staff members through the years. The 2006
Kinawind campers really enjoyed their contact with Nicky, a high energy, very
upbeat young lady who was their lifeguard. She was also very observant,
thoughtful, and effective when working with campers. Nicky is currently studying
Youth Ministry in London. She hopes to return to Kinawind in 2007 before
returning to her homeland of South Africa.
Our cost for international
staff is about 50% higher than regular staff. Recruitment, program expenses,
travel and related costs are significant. Your contributions are very important
to support the continuation of this program.
This ministry supports the
Detroit Annual Conference Vision and Strategy Statement by “providing a
connectional global presence” and “overcoming prejudices which divide us.”
